From our Chair of Governors

Jim MouldA big welcome from the governors here at Birdham CE Primary School. The Governing Body has 11 members, varying from teachers, the Local Authority, parents, the diocese and members of the local community. We work as a team with the Head Teacher and staff for the benefit of all the pupils at our school.

We’re all volunteers and have a range of skills and experience to draw upon and use for the benefit of the school. We’re here to give the school a strategic direction and to act as ‘a critical friend’ - helping to guide the school to improving the standard of education for all our children. We don’t get involved in the day-to-day operation of the school, but set the criteria by which the school is managed.

We ensure that local and national government legislation and targets are met, that we spend our school budget wisely, that the safety of everyone is paramount, and that the curriculum is delivered to benefit all children.

As Governors, we also share a common objective which is the wider school community – working in partnership with you as parents and carers and staff to ensure that every child can succeed and reach their full potential. To achieve this, and to carry out our role as Governors effectively, we need to know what issues are important to you (so we remain responsive) and ensure that you know what issues Governors are discussing (so that we remain accountable). That is why as Governors we work closely with Mr McCadden and Staff to ensure that we continue to deliver a high standard of education to all the children at Birdham CE Primary School.

All relevant information is included on the School’s Website. Please remember that the website is a good way of keeping up to date with all aspects of school life.

If you want to contact us, then we’d be happy to hear from you; please contact us through clerk@birdhamprimary.co.uk. or via the school e-mail.
