School Eco Council

Country DiaryOur School is proud to have achieved our fifth Green Flag last year – not many schools have managed that nationally!  It means that we are a good green school that helps looks after the environment.

We conserve water, save electricity with a termly switch off fortnight, and recycle food waste, paper, bottle tops, ink cartridges and even old tea bags.  We meet every term and have an after school club as well that helps to keep our grounds looking nice.  We grow our own fruit and vegetables in the polytunnel and the water is recycled. We also use solar energy to power the school, and to heat our swimming pool

Plastic taking from beach

We have worked closely with Chichester Harbour Conservancy, having taken part in four beach clearances. We were lucky to be able to link up with Chichester University Art Dept, for one of the clearances, and so create a work of art representing our disgust at the amount of plastic that pollutes our oceans.

We are also proud to be a FairTrade Achiever school.  So every year we have a FairTrade fortnight to promote the work they do, and to learn how we can support a more sustainable lifestyle.

Check out Sam Pendle’s awesome animation.

We have ten councillors including the Head Boy and Head Girl and we meet every term to help make our school the best it can be for everyone.
